We left our hotel this morning and went to an Authentic cooking class - being taught by Sonia and Bindi - two local Nepali women with passion for preserving and promoting and sharing rich food culture of the indigenous people of Kathmandu Valley. We made masala tea and then cut a selection of vegetables to make Black Lentil Dahl Bhat…with tomato and green pea; papadums, basmati rice, black lentil Dahl; tomato chutney and potato and cauliflower. We then sat and ate out creation for lunch. It was a fantastic morning full of fun, talk and laughter!
After lunch we hopped back on our bus and headed to Bhaktapur - a beautifully preserved ancient city home to many temples and statues, some dating back to the 15th century. We walked around Durban Square, Taumadhi Square and Pottery Square and as Amit is a native of this town he took us down some back alleys to see how regular Bhaktapurians live. It was so interesting. Everywhere you turned there were great photo opportunities it just became overwhelming!
Our trusty bus picked us up and drove about an hour up to Nagarkot to stay at the Himalayan Club on top of the hill. The plan was to head to the rooftop at sunset to watch it while sipping a local cocktail…however the weather had other plans and we were hearing thunder and watching lightening strikes before heavy rain drops fell. We retreated inside to eat a wonderful buffet dinner, heading to bed to wake early to hopefully catch the sunrise.
